Once again I find myself thanking all of the participants at this year’s Health-O-Rama. Health-O-Rama has become one of the most anticipated events of the late summer. It is now sought after by more vendors and interested groups than any other. This year the Lung Disease Foundation of Central Pa. was the proud recipient of donations obtained from the indoor Beacon of Light on Lung Cancer walk. Not only does this event bring together vendors and volunteers, but also agencies, along with our own physicians from Altoona Lung Specialists.
We receive many encouraging comments about the lectures given by the physicians at the beginning of the event. These talks are open to anyone who is at the Logan Valley Mall, free of charge, and the topics are published in the Mirror and on-line so everyone is aware of the times the lectures are given.
I would be remiss if I did not comment on the Cook Off that is widely anticipated each year. For those of you who could not make it, pickling was the topic. My son, Dr. Michael Zlupko, and I presented the crowd with our own take on pickling. The audience was encouraged to taste our work and then vote on who they thought had the best pickles. This year the contest surprisingly ended in a dead heat draw. Better luck to both of us next year.
We are already planning on next year along with some other events as well. As always, thank you, everyone for another great Health-O-Rama.
