Most of my readers may not realize that I have been writing this article weekly for about 15 years. I have written well over 500 articles during that time. Finding a new or interesting subject weekly can be difficult especially since I limit my articles to issues surrounding pulmonary diseases.

Some of you know that I have a radio show every third Tuesday of the month on WRTA. The program is called “The Buzz with Dr. Z.” (This article is “The Buzz by Dr. Z”). I have decided to expand my articles to include information about diseases that are non-pulmonary in nature but do affect the respiratory system. I only get 250 words in this article, and it may be a challenge to get in all that I would like to say but I am going to try.

Last month on the radio I discussed how Parkinson’s Disease can affect the way a patient breathes. In case you missed the show I will try to recreate the important information in next week’s article. My plan for future articles is to tackle rheumatoid arthritis, stroke and neuromuscular diseases. There are many others I would like to get to, but I want to see how the next few go.

Summer is coming to an end. I look forward to providing new information about lung disease for the fall and winter months. If you have any topics that you would like discussed contact the Mirror or WRTA and I will do my best.
