December 24, 2018

There is a real coincidence this year.  Christmas just happens to fall on a Tuesday, which is the usual day this article appears in the Mirror. As usual, I am taking my editorial license and using this installment to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.  All of our physicians and staff hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.

During this time of year I often talk to the patients I am seeing at the office about their plans for the holidays, and they really span the gamut from large family celebrations and trips to see family and friends to small family get togethers.  There are always a few folks who will be celebrating the holidays alone.  I have been fortunate to have raised a large family.  When we all get together there are nineteen of us, and there are usually a few additional folks like in-laws, girl or boyfriends and fiancés.  The commotion this group may cause is obvious.  Despite all the noise and commotion, I often think of those who spend much of this holiday season alone.  Hopefully, some of these patients are reading this article because I want to acknowledge them and their lives and wish them all the happiness and joy this season of the year can bring.

To those who are spending the holidays alone, let me say that you are in my mind and my heart and I look forward to seeing all of you when you visit the Lung Disease Center.
